Single-Origin Coffee, Traced to the Farm

Single-origin beans tell a story. They come from one farm, one harvest, one place—which means you taste the unique characteristics of that soil, altitude, and climate. At Driftline, we source directly from farms we trust, roast in small batches to highlight each origin's distinct flavor profile, and print the roast date on every bag so you know exactly how fresh your coffee is.

Whether you prefer the bright, fruity notes of Ethiopian Yirgacheffe or the rich, balanced body of Colombian Huila, single-origin beans let you explore the world through your cup—and control the variables that matter most: freshness, grind size, water temperature, and brew time.

The Pour-Over Ritual

Pour-over brewing puts control in your hands. By managing water temperature, flow rate, and timing, you extract the full complexity of each origin—something automatic drip coffee simply can't achieve.

Water Temperature

Ideal range is 195–205°F (90–96°C). Too hot extracts bitterness; too cool leaves the cup thin. Precision matters.

Brewing Time

Aim for 3–4 minutes total. A slower pour and longer contact time draw out subtle notes that rush brewing misses.

Grind Size & Ratio

Use a medium-fine grind and a 1:16 bean-to-water ratio (e.g., 25g coffee to 400g water). Consistency in grind size is essential.

Superior Flavor

The result is a cleaner, more nuanced cup. You taste the terroir—the origin's elevation, soil, and climate—in every sip.

Yes, pour-over takes a few extra minutes. But that's the point. It's a deliberate pause in your morning, a moment to slow down and savor what you're making. Driftline's single-origin beans are roasted specifically to shine in pour-over: they have the clarity and complexity that manual brewing rewards.

Visit our Portland cafe to watch our baristas walk through the technique, or start at home with fresh beans from a recent roast date. We include brewing tips with every order.

Cold Brew Perfection

Cold brew is brewed low and slow—immersed in cold water for 12–24 hours. The result: a naturally smooth, less acidic concentrate that tastes clean and pure. No heat extraction means the beans' origin character shines without bitterness.

We craft cold brew with single-origin beans selected for their natural sweetness and clarity. Ready to drink straight over ice, or dilute with water or milk to your preference. Available at our Portland cafe and ready to ship nationwide.

Limited-Release Seasonal Lots

Every season brings a rotating selection of exclusive single-origin beans available for a limited time. These small-batch lots celebrate harvest windows, micro-lot availability, and the unique character of each origin's seasonal peak.

Seasonal releases are our chance to share rare finds and experimental roast profiles. Quantities are small—once they're gone, they're gone until next season. Subscribe to stay updated on new arrivals, or visit the cafe to sample the current release.
